Part-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist Position

Webster Clinic is seeking a thoughtful and clinically engaged part-time child and adolescent psychiatrist to join our growing private practice in Boston’s Back Bay. This position is designed for a psychiatrist who values depth-oriented clinical work, psychotherapy, careful diagnostic formulation, and sustained relationships with children, adolescents, young adults, and families.

This is an opportunity to build a meaningful private practice within a well-supported clinical environment. Webster Clinic provides marketing, billing, scheduling, administrative support, and a newly renovated office setting, allowing physicians to focus on providing excellent psychiatric care. The role may begin as part-time, with the option to expand into full-time work as the psychiatrist’s panel grows and as mutual fit is established.

The part-time child and adolescent psychiatrist will provide psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, parent guidance, consultation, and medication management when clinically indicated. This role is ideal for a psychiatrist who wants to practice with depth and continuity while also having the freedom to develop a clinical niche within a collaborative private practice setting.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Active or eligible Massachusetts medical license

  • Strong interest in psychotherapy, psychodynamic thinking, and longitudinal care

  • Comfort working with children, adolescents, young adults, parents, and families

  • Commitment to culturally responsive and LGBTQIA+ affirming care

  • Interest in collaboration with schools, pediatricians, therapists, and referring clinicians

  • Desire to build a clinical niche within a supportive private practice setting

  • Interest in growing with the practice, including the possibility of transitioning

The ideal candidate will be clinically thoughtful, warm, reliable, and interested in building a meaningful long-term practice. We are especially interested in psychiatrists who value psychotherapy, psychodynamic formulation, and relationship-based care.

Responsibilities

  • Providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, and families

  • Offering psychotherapy with integrated medication management when indicated

  • Conducting thoughtful consultations that incorporate developmental history, family context, school experience, and caregiver perspective

  • Providing parent guidance and family support as part of ongoing care

  • Collaborating with schools, pediatricians, therapists, and other clinicians when appropriate

  • Developing a clinical niche within the practice, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, school refusal, identity development, college transition, family transitions, LGBTQIA+ care, or care for children and families of color

  • Participating in peer supervision, clinical mentorship, and case discussion

Schedule, Compensation, and Professional Development

This is a part-time position, with schedule and patient-facing hours to be determined based on candidate availability and practice needs. For candidates interested in a larger role, there is a clear pathway to increase clinical hours and transition into a full-time child and adolescent psychiatry position.

Webster Clinic is also committed to supporting ongoing professional development, including psychoanalytic and psychodynamic training. Support may include CME funding and training support for eligible programs through the Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute (BPSI), including fellowship or advanced training opportunities in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
